I’d be LIEN if I said CONSISTENCY & FOCUS hasn’t been a MAJOR PROBLEM FOR ME in the PAST. HOWEVER, I TRULY FEEL like CHANGE IN OUR BEHAVIOR (LETTING GO OF BAD HABITS, REPLACING w/ GOOD HABITS) STARTS with a SPIRITUAL & PSYCHOLOGICAL NARRATIVE/ROUTINE CHANGE.
CONSCIOUSLY BREAKING BAD HABITS has damn near been a 10+ Year Challenge for Me, AND I WONT SPEND TIME TRYING TO CONVINCE ANYONE TO BREAK BAD HABITS WHILE I MYSELF AM STILL IN THE PROCESS (6+ DAYS).
SPEAKING FROM EXPERIENCE, MY LONGEST TIME OF CONSCIOUSLY REFRAINING FROM A BAD HABIT WAS 30 DAYS. AS INTENTIONAL AS THAT BEST RECORD TIME WAS FOR ME, THERE WERE PLENTY OF TIMES I CHEATED ON MY WAY TO THE FINISH LINE WITHOUT JEOPARDIZING MY GOAL. 🤦🏽♂️😪

HOWEVER, AFTER I RELAPSED I NEVER REACHED THAT 30 DAY RECORD AGAIN…SO FAR. MORAL OF THE STORY IS: IF IT’S FEAR, SHAME, GUILT, FRUSTRATION, EXHAUSTION OR DISAPPOINTMENT THAT IS GOING TO WILL YOU TO THE FINISH LINE OF BREAKING YOUR BAD HABITS IN 2024— SO BE IT. BUT THE #1 RULE NONE OF US CAN ESCAPE FROM WHEN IT COMES TO SELF-IMPROVEMENT IS HONESTY.

WHAT DO WE WANNA CHANGE IN OUR LIVES? WHAT DO WE WANNA LOOK LIKE ON DEC 31ST, 2024? Instead of tomorrow, we are talking about today. We mean every minute, hour, day, week, and month leading up to December 31st, 2024. That's when the clock will move forward for all of us in terms of age and time. I’LL WRAP THIS UP BY SHARING THE TOP (3) SOURCES OF WHAT I TRULY FEEL HAS BEEN WORKING FOR STRENGTHENING MY RELATIONSHIP WITH CONSISTENCY & FOCUS WHILE LETTING GO OF MY BAD HABITS.
#1 IS MY RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD! MY RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD HAS ALWAYS BEEN IN EXISTENCE BUT COULD BE CALLED INTO QUESTION BASED ON THE QUALITIES I LACKED TO MAINTAIN AN EVER STRONGER RELATIONSHIP WITH THE FATHER HIMSELF.

LACK OF SELF-CONTROL DAMPENS OUR FAVORS FROM GOD (YUP, IT’S TRUE), WHICH ULTIMATELY SHOULD BE OUR MORAL COMPASS TOWARD NOT RELAPSING OR EVEN THINKING ABOUT RELAPSING INTO OUR BAD HABITS AGAIN. WE NEED ALL OF OUR BLESSINGS THIS YEAR, SO IF WE TOLD GOD WE’RE COMMITTED, GUESS WHAT, WE’RE REMAINING COMMITTED!

#2 IS ATTACHING MYSELF TO MORE CREATIVE PROJECTS—THIS IS TRULY ONE OF MY FAVORITE TYPE OF HEALTHY ACTIVITIES TO INDULGE IN. BUT BELIEVE IT OR NOT, WHEN YOUR AN ALMOST FULL TIME CREATIVE LIKE MYSELF, WE TEND TO EMBRACE INDULGING IN BAD HABITS TO EXPRESS CREATIVITY (SEX, DRUGS, LIQUOR,).
TO HELP REFRAIN FROM THESE UNHEALTHY EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES SO OFTEN, REPLACE THEM WITH HEALTHY CREATIVE PROJECTS AS OUTLETS THAT DRIVE AN INCREASE IN RESPONSIBILITY (VOLUNTEER WORK, DEADLINE BASED CREATIVE PROJECTS).👨🏽🎨🏋🏽♂️🧘🏽♂️
A CLEAR EXAMPLE FROM MY EXPERIENCE OF #2 GOES BACK TO 2023, THE YEAR I STARTED AN ONLINE RADIO SHOW KNOWN AS DHL CLUB RADIO THROUGH AMAZON’S AMP PLATFORM. IT FORCED ME TO HAVE TO SUBMIT WEEKLY PLAYLISTS IN ADVANCE TO GROW MY AUDIENCE BY BEING PREPARED TO PRESENT A WELL CURATED SHOW IN ORDER TO GET PAID. 🎶🎙 💰🎒
SO OF COURSE I HAD TO CUT OUT SHIT THAT COULD SLOW ME DOWN. CAN’T BE UNDER THE INFLUENCE ALL THE TIME AND MAKE EXECUTIVE DECISIONS IDC WHAT NOBODY TELLS YOU LOL. SHOULD WE READ A LEGAL CONTRACT WE HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THOROUGHLY WHILE BEING UNDER THE INFLUENCE? 🚭(CONCLUSION BELOW👇🏽)
